My try at an editorial cartoon.
This in response to Adobe officially announcing that they will quit developing Flash for mobile devices after their next update and acknowledging that HTML5 has proven itself as the best application for mobile video not Flash. It can not be denied that Apple played a huge role in this by not supporting Flash on the iPhone and iPad although it was only made worse by Microsoft and Google publicly;y saying they would also support HTML5 over Flash for mobile. This does not mean the end of Flash for the desktop or for software for making animation as long as your end result is a Flash video or Flash file for mobile devices.
Here are some links about this subject:
Adobe to quit development of mobile Flash player for browsers
Although Flash is still a great tool for animation I recently downloaded ToonBoom Animate demo for myself to create animations. My knowledge of Flash was kinda rusty anyways so instead of investing more time in learning Flash I would rather use that time to learn a software made specifically for animation.
Sorry to keep the comic so short but I am super slammed with the upcoming CTN-X Animation Expo and lots of Family events. November is always my busiest month.
Take care,
Frank

I would say so….though I am not geeky enough to care how it works, just so it works.
I admit I follow tech news. And I have been a lot about the best way to animate my stuff; either thru Flash or Toon Boom but I think I’ll settle on Toon Boom.
When I was young Apples were so kind and gentle. So eager to please. What happend? My Mac threatened the dog yesterday with bodily harm if she didn’t quit accidentally unplugging it. I wouldn’t have been too worried, but I saw that “Electric Dreams” movie years ago. I know what they’re capable of.
Oh, nice work, btw!
Thanks. Your story sounds like another cartoon right there. Love the idea of the Mac gone wild with anger.
Et tu, Apple? Very creative cartoon! I believe that’s the first time I’ve seen Steve Jobs and the Apple logo combined like that. Well done!
Let me know what you think of ToonBoom. Flash is great, but it certainly has a lot of limitations (chiefly in the drawing tools department).
I just began trying to learn Flash. It’s not as easy nor simple as I thought it would be. I’ll be in tutorials forever!
Great cartoon depiction of the mobile animation war, Frank!
Sweet Justice for all around!
I like the artwork on this one, and the subtle crosshatching adds a nice traditional editorial touch.
Boy that apple has really put the fear into Flash. Jim’s comment on the “Electric Dreams” movie has just reminded me why I never wanted a computer after seeing it.
This is pretty cool and clever, great black drawings!
Flash is a tricky thing to work with. And hurray for Mac users!
Flash is down for the count.
Not only is this a pointed cartoon, but I’m impressed by the use of black shapes with the “footlight” crosshatching to underscore the emotions. Nicely done.
