Not sure about the punchline on this one but I just love the idea that a dog would have such a strong opinion about the existence of God.

Some day this just might become a reality although this is one activity you may want to keep off the grid.
I actually got this idea while listening to Tech News Today on the TWIT Network when they were talking about the growth of electronic payment and one of the guest mentioned someone talking about the things you never want to use cash for (Strip Clubs). Tech News Today is a great daily podcast about technology.
I know this is site is meant for comics that are funny and not serious illustartion stuff like this but I was trying to sketch out Sarah Palin for this puzzle idea I had and it turn out a lot more serious looking than I originally intended. What are you going to do.
This comic is based on the story out of China, in which a 17-year-old student gave up his kidney for money, some of which was used buy an iPad and an iPhone. The appalling idea that some one would undergo major surgery in order to purchase gadgets is really troubling and says something about the escalation of consumerism in China and the entire world. If the boy was in some sort of trouble or trying to help someone with the money this might be different but that is not what he was doing as far as I know. In my comic I only mean to call attention to this insane level of consumerism and “keeping up with the Jones” mentality that pulls at all of us everyday.
The real sad thing is now that the poor kid is suffering from a renal deficiency as a result of the procedure and that is not funny. Luckily the official Chinese Xinhua News Agency is reporting that five people have been arrested for alleged involvement in the removal and selling of a teenager’s kidney for transplant, according to the Associated Press. These people really need to check their moral compass. What the hell are doing? Yikes!
Today’s comic was based on a news story I read that mentioned that the percentage of teenagers applying for driver’s licence has been falling for years. There a lot of theories but the fall off has increased lately and most believe kids just don’t see as much importance in driving anymore when they can communicate with their friends so easily on multiple devices. On the plus side I guess that means less people on the road and less pollution on the down side less people are not taking face to face as much anymore. Gotta take the good with the bad I suppose.
One statistic in the article: “…found that 46.2 percent of the nation’s 16 year olds had licenses in 1983, compared to 31.1 in 2008, a drop of 15.1 percent.”
It is a tough market out there for any new phone on the market. No matter how wonderful it is. Microsoft and Nokia have their work cut out for them although the reviews are pretty good, especially when you consider the price.
Unfortunately a lot of folks are dealing with this situation for real and the banks that will not work with them.
Have a safe a happy week. I hope to post more throughout the week.
